It's an exciting time as Sense has just released its new strategy, we now have an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Sense Centre Leeds and Wakefield.

Job Description

This is a permanent role, working 30 - 37.5 hours per week. The successful applicant will work on rota basis in a busy adult day service and will also be covering a rota which includes children’s short break services in term time and Saturdays.

You may also be asked on occasion to work in the community with individuals who have a service which is not building based.

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people and staff you support are individuals and they are all treated as such. As a general guide, you may support with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing alongside supporting the registered care manager/ duputies with their duties..

Your duties can include:

  • To support individuals / groups within the home, centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • You are required to hold a full manual UK license and must be willing / able to drive our vehicle.
  • Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is beneficial but not essential ( BSL / Makaton etc.)
  • You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker. 
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
