The NSPCC exists to prevent cruelty to children. We are seeking a new Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer to help us shape law, policy and practice to ensure children in the UK can grow up free from abuse.

Job Description

This is an exciting time to join the NSPCC as we begin our new ten-year strategy.

At a crucial time for children, the successful candidate will support key areas of our work, including: strengthening the child protection and social care system; contributing to the organisational analysis on the relationship between structural drivers, such as poverty, and risk of harm to children; and develop a policy response to emerging place-based approaches and the prevention of abuse in communities.

You’ll be a policy specialist with a proven track record in achieving public policy change, making persuasive, credible arguments that result in change. You will be passionate about preventing abuse. You will also be a skilled communicator with solid experience of working collaboratively with colleagues and building alliances. You’ll join a high performing team to develop high impact policy calls and public affairs strategies that gain real traction with policy makers.

Given this role’s focus on child protection and children’s social care, a strong understanding of, or experience working in, children’s social care is desirable.
