About Global Witness
Global Witness wants to end environmental and human rights abuses driven by political and corporate elites.
We are facing a crisis: the climate is being destroyed and civic freedoms are deteriorating. Rampant abuse of power is pushing the world to breaking point as governments and big corporations all too often go unchecked in their exploitation of our planet and its people.
For us to succeed, we need to embody the principles we fight for. We continue to strive for greater cohesion, solidarity, and inclusion internally and across civil society. We stay ahead of the curve by learning from allies and other social and political movements that share our mission.
About the role
You’ll join our advocacy and policy team in influencing legislation in the major financial centres of USA, EU, China and the UK, stopping the money pipeline linked to the destruction of the world’s climate critical tropical forests, biodiversity loss and human rights abuses.
You will engage with stakeholders in the finance sector, companies and policy makers to achieve change in business practice and advocate for policy and regulatory change.
You will be a skilled strategist with excellent research and analytical skills to develop and influence financial policy relating to environmental risk. You will have expert knowledge of the global financial sector and its regulatory environment to deliver successful advocacy campaigns, creating new global standards for companies to be held accountable for their human rights and climate impact.
You will have an affinity to Global Witness’ values and objectives and be a great team player. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners and coalitions is critical in this role, so you must thrive in an environment where you frequently work with others to achieve impact.
