Job Description

Who are we looking for and why work at Natural Power?

The Environment Department within Natural Power comprises approximately 60 like-minded people providing services throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy projects. You would be joining a team that is passionate about the net zero transition and provide industry-leading consultancy services to support the development, investment, and financing of clean energy assets. We are looking for someone to work with our environment and advisory teams to provide international environmental advisory services to our clients for renewable energy projects. The Principal Environmental Technical Advisor role is the ideal opportunity for someone who has significant experience of EIA and ESIA for renewable energy projects, has a familiarity of using equator principals and IFC and EBRD performance standards/requirements, and would like to further develop a career in international environmental advisory services. 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Execute activities related to international environmental advisory projects being undertaken by Natural Power, with emphasis on interdisciplinary thinking and approach. Projects will include environmental elements of Environmental and Social Monitoring Consultancy, Biodiversity Consultancy, and Environmental and Social Due Diligence
  • Lead, manage and contribute to projects, acting as the main point of contact for clients as well as coordinating workstreams internally.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and deliver proposals and contracts in conjunction with the business development team.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, internal processes and tools, and development of new service offerings in your field.
  • Requirement for international travel as part of project delivery, for client meetings, or to attend events.

Essential skills, qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • Familiarity of using IFC's performance standards, EBRD's performance requirements, and the equator principals
  • Significant knowledge of EIA and ESIA for renewable energy projects.
  • Significant knowledge of environmental impacts and risks that may arise from renewable energy projects during construction and operation.
  • Working knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation / guidance, and survey / interpretation methods.
  • Excellent report writing skills, high command of English and strong communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to managing concurrent tasks and handling short order pieces of work. 
  • Environmental elements of Environmental and Social Monitoring Consultancy, Biodiversity Consultancy, and Environmental and Social Due-Diligence
  • Experience of working with project developers, owner-operators, and project investors 
  • Experience of working as a lender's technical advisor
  • Experience of environmental consultancy for renewable energy projects.
  • Provision of advice to clients and lenders on projects’ environmental risks.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and being accountable to external stakeholders. 

This role can be based from any of our offices in UK, Ireland or France.
