We’re looking for a highly strategic and driven Head of Media and Communications to lead Friends of the Earth’s messaging and media work. We are looking for candidates across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and this role will be based in our offices or at home, visiting London a few times a year if not based in the London office.
We’re looking for a highly strategic Head of Media and Communications to lead Friends of the Earth’s messaging and media work. You will lead on developing organisational narrative and messaging and work closely with others to create an annual communications plan, identifying and sequencing priority organisational messages and moments. You will lead Friends of the Earth’s media strategy, helping to achieve campaign impact, brand and fundraising objectives through influential media work and partnerships. You will lead on crisis communications and provide media and communications advice to the organisation’s senior leadership.
Key Skills and Attributes:
You are an experienced strategic communications leader, inspiring your team to deliver powerful messaging and media coverage to influence campaign targets and audiences, and build the organisation’s profile and fundraising. You have an acute news sense and writing skills, with sound judgement under pressure and a creative approach. You’re used to navigating complex organisations, you love working with others to create truly integrated plans and have excellent influencing skills. You thrive working in a busy and quick response environment.
The Media and Communications team at Friends of the Earth is key to the delivery of our campaigning goals, working for a fairer, greener planet for all. We work across campaigning, fundraising and engagement projects, creating compelling messaging to excite our audiences and inspiring journalists, commentators and media partners to raise awareness of our cause, our work and amplify our calls. We also ensure that our network of local activists are supported to do media work in their local area.
