As a children's community support worker in Stockport, you will provide one-to-one support to a child who may have sight and hearing impairments and or additional needs. The day-to-day role will vary dependent on the needs of the individual, the nature of the sensory impairment and the ways they wish to communicate.
About the role
As a children's community support worker you will be to enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication.
This will include assisting participation in various activities, assisting with personal care, and promoting independence both at home and in the community , providing short periods of respite for families and carers.
We are looking for enthusiastic people to support on weekdays, school holidays and Saturday mornings. We will assess your availability / suitability and match you with an individual/s to support. We also offer various 1:1 services in the community with children which we may offer to you if suitable.
Previous care experience is not required for this role. It is really important that you’re adaptable and able to work on your own initiative, always putting the people we support first. We are looking for people that really embrace our values and ‘I’ statements.
- A Valid UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle would be beneficial.
- Experience is not necessary, but knowledge of working with individuals with complex needs would be beneficial.
