A cover letter is an important, and often under-rated (by candidates) aspect of an application process. Try to view your cover letter as an opportunity to "speak" directly to the recruiter, to let them know why you are a good fit for the role.
Remember ethical organisations have a strong focus on their mission. Take the time to demonstrate you understand it and that you are a candidate who connects with their aims, as well as one who possesses the right skills and you will increase your chance of being shortlisted.

Top tips:
- Demonstrate some research into the company/role
- Draw attention to key skills and experience in line with the job advert
- Make sure it is not too long max one side of A4.
