Organisation Overview
WWT is the only organisation in Wiltshire which is concerned with all aspects of the environment. By taking action to protect the natural environment, the Trust has grown to become one of the UK’s leading environmental charities through its work to create a sustainable future for wildlife and people.
Our Vision focusses on creating “a sustainable future for wildlife and people” and our Mission is “to support the recovery of nature, help people connect with nature and live more healthy, happy and sustainable lives”.
The Trust has 42 nature reserves covering over 1,100 ha, representing some of Wiltshire’s most important meadows, downland, woods, fen and other valuable wildlife habitats. The nature reserves have free, open public access. Our Reserves and Farm teams deliver our conservation land management regime across Wiltshire thereby enabling us to create an amazing suite of reserves, many of which are internationally renowned. Habitat creation is just part of our remit however. Nowadays our reserves also provide the means for us to deliver a wide variety of adult and youth Wellbeing programmes and our two Care Farms also provide exceptional day-care facilities for young people. Our two flagship reserves each hosts a nature centre and a café.

Volunteering with WWT
As a voluntary organisation we greatly value our volunteers, without whom much of our work could not be achieved. Volunteering with WWT is a great way to get active while helping wildlife and nature to thrive. It also offers the opportunity to learn new skills, keep busy and meet new people. We have roles to suit everyone, no matter how much time you have to give and whatever your experience.
